tips for happier searching . . .
|
Because we haven’t clogged up our library with a million and one shots you don’t want, it’s pretty easy to find what you’re looking for. But there are still a few things worth remembering
|
You can search in different ways
|
| • |
Searching by ‘object’ If you really know what you want (a red apple) just enter ‘red apple’ in the search box, and you’ll be rewarded with as many shots of red apples as we’ve got.
Or you can conduct a wider search by entering keywords such as ‘apple’ or ‘fruit’ or ‘food’. It’s up to you
| |
| • |
Searching by ‘concept’ Let’s say you’re looking for an image that suggests wealth. Enter ‘wealth’ into the search box, and you’ll get images of everything from huge piles of money, to fat cigars.
Or maybe you want a whole lot of red things. Enter ‘red’ and you’ll get everything from red traffic lights to red wine.

| • |
Searching by image number Every image in our library has its own number, which you can enter into the Search box if you want to retrieve that particular image.
| |
Some simple things you can do
|
| • |
Check your spelling If you want a bicycle, you’re not going to get it if you enter the word ‘bycycle’. Of course, you could just use ‘bike’, but that’s a different story.
| |
| • |
Don’t use brand-names Use ‘tissues’ instead of ‘Kleenex’. That sort of thing.
| |
| • |
Don't use symbols in your searching You don't have to separate words with a comma or a + sign. If you want a beach towel just type in beach towel - and the search engine should do the rest.
Likewise if you want a dollar note or coin, you'll need to type in the word dollar, not use the symbol $ (other currency symbols are out too).
